Bloemfontein: Low cost airline Mango and the Free State Rugby Union today announced its partnership for the 2010 Absa Currie Cup season. The deal, which will see the airline become the official carrier for the Cheetahs squad, follows the airline’s increased presence in the City of Roses. Mango flies between Cape Town and Bloemfontein, Johannesburg and Bloemfontein and manages the majority of ground handling at the city’s airport.
“Our partnership with the Cheetahs marks another milestone in our commitment to the city,” says Mango CEO Nico Bezuidenhout. “Bloemfontein is pivotal in our business where Mango engages across most levels of the operational supply chain.”
The World Cup thus far saw the airline handle thousands of domestic and international passengers commuting through the city en route to the beautiful game.
He adds that the Cheetahs partnership follows the airline’s third year of partnering with the Volksblad Arts Festival.
“Mango’s a welcome addition to the Cheetah’s family,” says Free State Rugby Union Commercial Director Piet de Necker. “Even our orange livery matches; beyond that, the mutual enthusiasm shared for Bloemfontein and the people of the Free State.” De Necker says the team’s Absa Currie Cup campaign kicks off on 10 July when the Western Province travels to face the Cheetahs. “Mango’s commitment to Bloemfontein is evident, and we share in the airline’s belief in the growth potential for the heart of South Africa.”
